Kyrgyzstan will spend $50 million to purchase electricity from Turkmenistan and coal from Kazakhstan


Kyrgyzstan will allocate $50 million allocated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the purchase of electricity from Turkmenistan, and part of the amount for the import of coal from Kazakhstan for the Bishkek power plant.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Sabyrbek Sultanbekov, reports 24.KG .
"$50 million is only for the import of electricity. We have another agreement on the import of coal. To date, we import 2.5 billion soms (almost $30 million). We import from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan," the official said.
The Kyrgyz government directs ADB funds intended to support the budget to the energy sector. At the same time, 50% of this amount is a loan for 24 years at 1-1.5% per annum, and the remaining 50% are grants.
