Turkmen experts study experience in the field of migration coordination


Representatives of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan took part in the webinar of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) dedicated to irregular migration.
The seminar is aimed at raising awareness of civil servants in the field of migration coordination, work with migration data in the development of socio-economic policy. Thus, experts from Central Asian countries and Turkey reviewed the dynamics of irregular migration in the region as a whole, got acquainted with the IOM policy in this area.
The participants were also presented with the guide "Return Migration: International approaches and regional peculiarities of Central Asia", which was prepared by a group of scientists from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The seminar emphasized that returning migrants make a significant contribution to the development of human capital and economic resources of their countries. Return migration also has great potential in terms of sustainable development.
The webinar was organized in accordance with the calendar of events of the Almaty Process of the Interstate Consultative Mechanism aimed at solving problems caused by the complex dynamics of migration and enhancing regional cooperation in this area. The Almaty Process was established in 2013. It includes Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan.
The Almaty Process contributes to the implementation of the Global Compact on Migration and the Global Compact on Refugees at the national and regional levels, acting as an equal platform for the exchange of information and best practices, as well as building the capacity of its member States.
