Ashgabat and Baku discuss ways to expand economic ties


Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who is on a visit to Baku, met with Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov on Monday, December 5.
The parties discussed the strengthening of economic ties between the countries. Mikail Jabbarov wrote about this on his Twitter. "During the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, we touched upon the development of relations between our countries, strengthening economic ties, as well as expanding cooperation," the publication says.
5 months at the head of the Azerbaijani Jabbarov visited Ashgabat and met with Meredov. Then the negotiations were focused on the development of partnership in the energy sector.
In January 2021, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on joint exploration, development and development of the Dostluk hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea. In the development of this document, bilateral consultations are continuing at the level of working groups on the preparation of an appropriate intergovernmental agreement.
Earlier, ORIENT reported that the Russian oil company Lukoil wants to become the operator of the Dostluk field.
