On Saturday, December 3, a solemn meeting of the first freight train departing from Turkish Izmir, passing through the territory of Iran and Turkmenistan and arriving in Uzbekistan took place at the Tashkent railway station.

The ceremony was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Tashkent Olgan Bekar, Director General of Uzbek State Railways Husniddin Khasilov and other officials, the Anadolu agency reports.

Bekar said that within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG), joint work continues on the development of economic relations between the member countries, including the development of transport corridors.

Gasilov noted that a freight train on the Turkey-Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan route will run once a month at the first stage, and twice a month in the future.

The train, consisting of 40 cars, delivered household appliances, ventilation systems and other goods to Tashkent in 25 days of travel, covering 4,500 kilometers.
