Conference of the sports ministers of the countries-participants of UNESCO will be held in Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan will hold the 7th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport. President Berdymukhamedov said this at a meeting of the Council of Elders of Turkmenistan today.
As the Head of State noted, the Final Declaration of the International Sport Congress “Asian Games-2017: International Sport Cooperation for Peace and Progress”, held on April 7 this year in Avaza, is circulated as a document of the 71st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Based on this document, Turkmenistan, under the auspices of UNESCO, provides for the holding of the 7th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS).
The International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport was first held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in 1976. Subsequent sessions were held in Moscow in 1988, Punta del Este in 1999, and Athens in 2004 and in Berlin in 2013. The last conference of the ministers of sports was held in July 2017 in Kazan. Leaders and representatives of authorities in the field of sports of 205 UNESCO Member States, as well as interested international organizations, took part in it.
MINEPS is the only such international platform that unites governments, intergovernmental organizations, sports movements, scientific communities and NGOs. The results and recommendations of the organization contribute to the continuous strengthening of the educational, cultural and social aspects of physical education and sport, and help to control the implementation of effective strategies and practices throughout the world.
