China has adopted an action plan to vaccinate the elderly against COVID-19

China has presented an action plan to accelerate vaccination of the elderly against COVID-19, China daily reports.
The document was prepared within the framework of the Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council and provides for a mass survey of the elderly part of the population, especially at the age of 80 and older. The mechanism also includes actions to raise public awareness of the importance of immunization.
Vaccination work will be accelerated in institutions for the care of the elderly, recreation centers, as well as meetings and tourist groups with the participation of a large number of elderly people.
According to the data, over 1.27 billion people have been fully vaccinated in China, about 811 million people have received repeated vaccinations. However, the vaccination rate of the elderly remains low. Among people aged 60 years and older, a total of 86.4% of the population received primary vaccination, and among people aged 80 years and older, this figure was 65.8%.
It should be noted that in order to accelerate vaccination, the period between primary vaccination and revaccination has been reduced from six to three months.
The plan also provides for improving the quality of immunization services, including maintaining the use of mobile vehicles for vaccination.
