An addition has been made to the Law of Turkmenistan "On Military duty and military Service", which allows applicants to higher and secondary vocational educational institutions to receive a deferral from conscription for military service.

The relevant Law was published today by the official Turkmen press. The postponement is granted "to those who wish to participate in entrance examinations to higher and secondary vocational educational institutions of Turkmenistan and foreign countries in the year of graduation from general education institutions and special educational institutions," the text of the law says.

Thus, the postponement is granted to young people who have just completed their studies at school and want to enroll in a university or a secondary specialized educational institution. An educational institution can be located both on the territory of Turkmenistan and abroad.

The amendment to the legislation was adopted on the proposal of the chairman of the upper house of the Turkmen Parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in connection with the transition to a 12-year system of education in schools of Turkmenistan.
