Czech Republic offers to arrange railway tours from Europe to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismayiloglu said that Ankara recently received an application from one of the members of the Czech Railways Cooperation Association, which proposes to establish tourist transportation from the Czech Republic to Kazakhstan by 2024. The head of the Turkish Ministry of Transport announced this at a meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Transport of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in Aktau, Anadolu agency reported on Friday.

"I would like to emphasize that it is necessary to make more efforts to eliminate obstacles in this direction," Karaismayiloglu said.

He also stated that Turkey is proposing to extend the route of the Orient Express train running between Ankara and Kars to Baku.

According to him, with the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway (BTK), the importance of not only cargo transportation, but passenger transportation has increased. "During a recent visit to Georgia, I proposed to Mr. Rashad Nabiyev [Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan] to extend the passenger transportation line to Baku," Karaismayiloglu said.

Karaismayiloglu also proposed to create a Joint Coordinating Council for Road Transport in the Organization of Turkic States zone.
