Representatives of the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus signed an agreement on further cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of combating locust invasions.

The agreement was concluded in Dushanbe within the framework of the four-day annual regional technical seminar on locusts in the Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA), which was conducted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan with financial support from Japan, asiaplus.tj writes.

It is reported that the event was attended by representatives of Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participating in the FAO Program to Improve National and Regional Locust Control in the CCA.

The seminar participants discussed advanced approaches to increasing the capacity and readiness of countries to combat locust invasions and reduce the risk of locust invasions, the implementation of the program "Caucasus and Central Asia Locust Management System" (CCALM) and reducing the risk associated with anti-locust treatments, including biopesticides.Innovative approaches to pest control, such as the use of drones and other technical issues, were also touched upon.
