UNODC Regional Representative to visit customs points of Turkmenistan
As part of an official visit to Turkmenistan, UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia Ashita Mittal plans to visit the Port Control Group at the International Customs Terminal in Ashgabat and the border Cooperation office at the Imamnazar checkpoint in the Lebap region. This is reported by the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
Earlier, Ashita Mittal met with the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan Maksat Hudaikulyev. The parties noted the positive dynamics of the development of cooperation between the two structures.
The Regional Office in Central Asia of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is one of the key international partners of the country's State Customs Service. Thus, together with the World Customs Organization, a program is being implemented to control container traffic.
The Port Control Groups created within the framework of this program on the basis of the customs posts "Farap Avtoyollary" of the Lebap regional Customs, in the Ashgabat International Customs Terminal and the seaport of the city of Turkmenbashi interact with 10 countries on the transfer of information using the ContainerCOMM information system.
