Unlike the opening of the Olympics, the start ceremony of the FIFA World Cup is a purely formal and little-remembered event. However, the organizers in Qatar tried to make an interesting and big show out of it.
The ceremony was opened by a dialogue between the famous Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman and a local public figure — a Paralympic athlete. They said that this championship is open to the whole world, about emotions that unite all people. Then a parade of mascots took place.
The main moment of the opening ceremony was the performance of Jong Jungkook, one of the members of the popular South Korean band - BTS. He performed the song named Dreamers, written specifically for the 2022 World Cup. In the second part of the song, he was joined by the famous Qatari singer Fahad Al-Kubaisi.
One of the most touching moments happened at the very end, when a video was shown on the big screen where the father of the current emir of Qatar — Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani — Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani — is playing football with children somewhere in the Qatari desert. It was a surprise for the father. The son took out the T-shirt in which his father played and asked to leave an autograph on it.
