The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrel, announced the possibility of using the investment power of the European private sector to help the countries of Central Asia in building a new "green" digital economy that will be closely connected with the rest of the world.

This is stated in the text distributed by the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan on the upcoming November 18 Conference on the Interconnectedness of the EU and Central Asia Global Gateway in Samarkand, which will discuss digital, transport,and energy communication between the two regions.

The EU intends to create the necessary platforms to overcome geographical obstacles and improve public services, stimulate and diversify the national economies of the five Central Asian countries.

Being the largest global investor in the world, the EU will provide grants to various joint projects in the amount of 390 million euros from 2021 to 2024, while from 2014 to 2020 the European Union provided 1.1 billion euros.

The upcoming meeting in Samarkand, which is expected to be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, aims to stimulate investment to unlock the huge potential of Central Asia and will be an important stage in interregional cooperation in the field of ecology, economy, transport, energy, and investment.
