A round of Russian-Turkmen consultations was held in Moscow through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs


The next round of Russian-Turkmen consultations through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held on Friday, October 28, in Moscow in person. The subject of the meeting is countering new challenges and threats, international cooperation in the fight against terrorism. The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister Oleg Syromolotov, while the Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Minister Vepa Khadzhiev.
During the talks, special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of countering international terrorism and extremism against the backdrop of global and regional threats, the commonality of approaches to organizing work in the counter-terrorism sector, as part of countering other challenges and threats, with the central coordinating role of the UN and its Security Council on the basis of principles and norms of international law, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The parties emphasized the need to join efforts in curbing the activities of foreign terrorist fighters, countering the financing of terrorism and combating the illicit distribution of drugs and their precursors.
Within the framework of the consultations, the positive role of the joint efforts of the member states of the CIS, the CSTO and the SCO in countering the challenges and threats to security in the Central Asian region was touched upon.
The consultations were held in the spirit of an equal and trusting dialogue and contributed to the strengthening of the strategic partnership uniting Russia and Turkmenistan, the report emphasizes.
