JSC "Russian Railways Logistics" has launched a regular container train on the eastern branch of the international transport corridor "North – South", through Turkmenistan. This, with reference to the company, is reported by the Prime Economic Information Agency.

"The organized container train, consisting of 31 forty-foot containers, left on October 24," the message says.

The train from Chekhov near Moscow will transit through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Sarakhs station in Turkmenistan, where containers will be reloaded from track 1520 to track 1435. Then the cargo will proceed through Iran to the port of Bandar Abbas. Upon arrival at the port, the containers will be loaded onto the ship and will proceed by sea to their destinations according to customer requests.

Currently, the train follows the Kazakh railways. According to the schedule, the arrival of the train at the border of Turkmenistan and Iran at the Sarakhs station is scheduled for October 31. On the way back, the train will deliver goods to the Russian Federation.

At the first stage, a regular train will run along the new export-import route along the eastern branch of the North–South MTK once a month. Russian Railways Logistics plans to increase the frequency of container train departures in this direction in the near future.
