The volume of cargo transportation along the eastern branch of the North—South corridor may increase to 2 million tons next year and up to 5 million tons by 2025, the official website of the Turkmenawtoulaglary Agency reports, citing the words of Dmitry Murev, General Director of JSC Russian Railways Logistics.
Increasing the maximum capacity of the corridor connecting Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and India will help to transport cargo from Central Russia to the ports of the Persian Gulf in less than 15 days.
At the moment, Russian Railways is striving to put into operation a single technology of operation on all North—South branches.
