Gold in the Grand Prix of Nur-Sultan in jiu-jitsu and other medals of Turkmen athletes

Turkmen athletes won gold and silver awards in the International Jiu-Jitsu Tournament Grand Prix Nur-Sultan 2019 in Kazakhstan. Student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Sayara Avesmetova became the gold winner in the weight category up to 48 kg. Student of the School of Training Young Olympic Athletes Isa Kasymov took the silver medal (up to 56 kg). The tournament is attended by athletes from Turkmenistan, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Jordan, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan, who compete in such disciplines as “Ne-Waza”, “Fighting”, “DUO” and “Contact- System”. The FESTIVAL NUR-SULTAN OPEN for beginner Jiu-Jitsu fighters is held as part of the tournament. Young chess players of Turkmenistan were awarded three gold medals in the rapid play Asian Championship between schoolchildren (Asian Schools Chess Championship 2019) being held these days in Tashkent. Among the players in the 17 age category, Azat Nurmamedov, Annagozel Mekanova and Vepaly Halyniyazov (aged 15) won the highest medals in the discipline “Rapid”, having stood ahead of competitors from 15 countries. The Turkmen national team took second place in the medal scoring after Uzbekistan. In total, 14 chess players and 3 coaches represent Turkmenistan at the tournament. Upcoming at the tournament to continue until June 29 are competitions in classical chess and in the discipline “Blitz”. On June 16-18, Turkmen boxers had match meetings with athletes of Russia, Kazakhstan and the RF Student Union in Grozny. Under the guidance of foreign coach Vladimir Dvortsov, 10 boxers of Turkmenistan participated in the competition, including Yakup Meredov, Yazmyrat Gurbanov, Nursahet and Togrulbek Pazzyevs, Nuryagdy Nuryagdyev, Hursant Imankuliev and others.
