President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, after extended talks with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Akorda, announced a twofold increase in the volume of mutual trade with Turkmenistan.

"Today we have once again confirmed the strategic nature of Kazakh-Turkmen relations and expressed mutual desire for further rapprochement of our fraternal peoples. We have determined the priorities of our multifaceted cooperation in a friendly and mutually beneficial manner," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to the Head of the Republic of Kazakhstan, special attention is paid to trade and economic partnership.

"Thanks to joint measures, our bilateral trade turnover doubled last year, exceeding $ 250 million. The positive dynamics continued this year. A twofold growth of mutual trade has been achieved in 7 months," the head of state added.

President of Turkmenistan Serdara Berdimuhamedov is making his first state visit to Kazakhstan, during which negotiations were held with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a narrow and expanded format. The visit of the Turkmen leader to Astana continues.
