The international festival of decorative and applied arts is being held in Turkmenabat


The international festival "Handicrafts and Decorative and Applied Arts in the heritage of the peoples of the world" started on Wednesday in the administrative center of the Lebap region of Turkmenistan, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper writes today.
The purpose of the creative action is to demonstrate the distinctive and vibrant culture of the Turkmen people, its important role in the development of Turkmenistan as an independent state, as well as its enormous creative potential.

The opening of the festival took place in the building "Turkmen White Yurt", where the united creative teams of the eastern region of Turkmenistan performed. The participants of the celebration were the leadership corps of the country, representatives of the cultural sphere, regional and city administration.
Foreign participants of the forum were cultural figures, artists, craftsmen from the Republic of Korea, Latvia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran.

Within the framework of the international festival, an exhibition of works of decorative and applied art and handicrafts was opened in the Museum of Local History of the Lebap region of Turkmenistan, where more than 35 thousand exhibits are stored.
The guests got acquainted with the whole variety of decorative and applied art, ceramics and sculptures, works by masters of brush and canvas, folk crafts, including carpets, kosmas, palas, tapestries, leather and fur products.

The first day of the festival ended with the screening of the feature film "Red Kurte", filled with vivid details of Turkmen life. The show was held at the State Musical Drama Theater named after Seyitnazar Seydi. The festival will end on October 14.
