Turkmenistan called on the CICA to support the initiative to declare 2025 the Year of Peace and Trust
At the summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Astana, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan recalled that Turkmenistan proposed to officially declare 2025 the Year of Peace and Confidence, and called on the CICA countries to support this initiative.
In addition, the representative of Turkmenistan drew attention to the need to solve the problem of refugees, which also concerns Asian countries. The words of the head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry are quoted by the Kazakh portal Informburo.kz, which conducted a text broadcast of the CICA summit.
At the summit, President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, proposed to transform the CICA into a full-fledged international organization. The heads of state and government of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia adopted the Astana Statement on Transformation.
Since June 2021, Turkmenistan has an observer status in the CICA.
