The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan reported that the delegation of the country, which is on a visit to Turkmenistan, reached agreements on important issues related to the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline under construction.

According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Shafay Azam, the parties reached agreements on action plans for the construction of a gas pipeline, distribution of gas to industrial parks and residents of Herat, as well as the conversion of natural gas to liquefied petroleum gas (alternative fuel).

The Ministry of Economic Development of Afghanistan also commented on TAPI.

"The TAPI project is one of the most important and fundamental projects that can contribute to political interaction, regional cooperation and regional development," said Abdul Rahman Habib, a representative of the Ministry of Economic Development.

The TAPI gas pipeline project, designed to deliver Turkmen gas to Afghanistan and South Asian countries, has recently become particularly relevant. This is due to the difficult situation on the global oil and gas market in the run-up to winter.

The current situation in the LNG market shows developing Asian countries that they are most profitable to supply pipeline gas under long-term contracts. This is what Turkmenistan offers its partners in South Asia, and this will be provided by the TAPI gas pipeline if it is laid.
