Russian language will be promoted in the CIS

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to create an international organization for the promotion of the Russian language in the CIS on Friday during an informal summit of the leaders of the Commonwealth countries in St. Petersburg. The idea of the Kazakh colleague was supported by the head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, reports TASS.
"We are very grateful to President Tokayev for this idea. I think it is important for everyone, bearing in mind that the Russian language is certainly the language of interstate communication and, without any doubt, it has a practical dimension," the President of the Russian Federation stressed.
The next year 2023 has been declared the Year of the Russian Language in the CIS – as the language of interstate communication, and Russia will fully support Kazakhstan's proposal and do everything to implement the project as soon as possible," the head of the Russian state said.
It should be recalled that in Turkmenistan, the Russian language is taught in all preschool and educational institutions – kindergartens, schools and universities. More than 800 children study at the Joint Turkmen-Russian Pushkin Comprehensive School, which opened in Ashgabat in 2002.
The Pushkin Russian Drama Theater operates in the country, which first opened its doors to the public in 1926. Also, the Russian language is present in the country's mass media – both in print and electronic.
