The winners of the 2022 Nobel Prize have been announced


Traditionally, every October committees name winners in a variety of prizes in the sciences, literature, economics and peace work.

Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

Professor Svante Pääbo, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, was awarded Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2022. Professor discovered a previously unknown branch of the human family tree by extracting DNA from a 40,000-year-old finger bone found in a cave in Siberia. The new hominid (primate family including Homo sapiens) was named Denisova after the location in which the bone was discovere.
Paabo’s discovery should contribute to a better understanding of human evolution and migration, explains the Nobel Committee.
Nobel Prize in Physics

The 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to scientists Alain Aspect, John Clauser and Anton Zeilinger for experiments in quantum mechanics for new applications in computing and cryptography.
Experts believe that their scientific work should bring the era of quantum computers and the quantum internet.
Nobel Prize in Chemistry

Carolyn Bertozzi, Morten Meldal and Barry Sharpless have been awarded with the 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the development of click chemistry and bio-orthogonal chemistry.
According to Nobel Committee, the three chemists have been working independently since 2000 to create functional molecules that have led to a revolution in how chemists think about linking molecules together.
**Nobel Prize in literature***

The 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to French writer Annie Ernaux for “the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory” Nobel Committee said in a statement.
Nobel Peace Prize

The 2022 Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to human rights advocate Ales Bialiatski human rights organization Memorial and Center for Civil Liberties.
