Turkmen scientists discussed the elimination of consequences of potential earthquakes


At the conference named "Methods for assessing seismicrisk in Turkmenistan", scientists and members of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan discussed issues of reducing the potential consequences of possible earthquakes, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper writes.
The meeting was organized by the Institute of Seismology and Atmospheric Physics of the National Academy of Sciences and the Research Institute of Earthquake-Resistant Construction under the Ministry of Construction of Turkmenistan. The conference participants noted the importance of providing seismic and geophysical monitoring, conducting scientific research, and complying with the rules, norms, and requirements of construction.
The conference was dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake and was held within the framework of the "Reduction of Seismic risk in earthquake-prone areas of Turkmenistan" State Program and the work plan of the State Commission for Emergency Situations of Turkmenistan.
