This statement was made by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for Economic Affairs Hojamurat Geldimuradov, speaking at the plenary session of the Caspian Economic Forum in Moscow's Skolkovo Center, the Russian TASS news agency reports.

As the Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister noted, it is important to build practical cooperation between the five countries within the framework of the agreement between the Caspian littoral states in the field of transport that entered into force, which was signed in Aktau in August 2018. The document regulates joint actions in expanding multilateral transport cooperation, strengthening work to identify and eliminate barriers in the transport and communication sphere, as well as in opening and developing new transport and logistics corridors to build up communication potential, the chairman underlined.

"Today, the transport sector in Turkmenistan is an intensively developing and promising segment of the national economy. "Our country implements transport and transit corridors in the North – South and West – East directions, actively participates in the creation of international transport corridors, such as Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey, Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Oman – Qatar and TRACECA. In addition, projects have been implemented for the construction of road and railway bridges across the Amudarya, international airports in Ashgabat, Turkmenbashi, Turkmenabad, and Kerki, as well as the international seaport of Turkmenbashi," Geldimuradov recalled.

Participants of the II Caspian Economic Forum, which is taking place on October 5-6 in the Skolkovo Center, also considered joint projects in the field of transport infrastructure, energy, environmental protection, and interregional cultural and humanitarian ties.
