Turkmenistan is working to increase gas supplies to China – Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov
Turkmenistan is working to increase gas supplies to China to meet the energy needs of the growing Chinese economy, the Chairman of the upper house of the Turkmen Parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in an article published today in the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
"Today, we are working on increasing the volume of Turkmen natural gas supplies, taking into account the growing needs of the Chinese economy and the potential of Turkmenistan's resource base. In this regard, we are ready for a substantive discussion of the possibilities of building the 4th pipeline route from Turkmenistan to China.
The head of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh also noted the common positions of Turkmenistan and China on such issues as non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the reform of the UN and its Security Council, the peaceful revival of Afghanistan and others.
Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping supported a proposal to build the fourth line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline during a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the SCO summit in Samarkand.
