On September 8-10, Dashoguz and Kunyaurgench took over the baton of popular science events of the "Turkmenistan-UNESCO" series. As part of the action, a symposium was held on the topic of preserving and studying the national cultural and spiritual heritage, architectural and intangible monuments, and work with youth in this area.

The key aspect of the forum was the interaction with public associations, representatives of which took part in the action initiated by the Secretariat of the National Committee for UNESCO and supported by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.

The Women's Union, the Center for Trade Unions, the Magtymguly Youth Organization and the municipality of the Dashoguz region also joined the project.

The forum participants visited the Kunyaurgench State Historical and Cultural Reserve with a research tour, a number of architectural monuments of which are included in the UNESCO List.

Currently, work is underway to include in the international register of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program documentary heritage related to the activities of such legendary figures as Ashik Aydin Pir, Ibrahim Edkhem, Nalach Baba, Ismamyt Ata and others, whose mausoleums are historical monuments and objects of pilgrimage in Dashoguz region.

The Memory of the World Register was established in 1997 to protect important elements of documentary heritage. Currently, the Register includes 245 documents of various nature.
