Promotion of the logistics center of Turkmenistan was considered in the port of Astrakhan
The Turkmen delegation from the transport complex of the country during a business visit to the Astrakhan region visited on Thursday the port special economic zone, which is being formed in the Limansky district, the village of Olya. This will be one of the key points of the North-South transport corridor, and it is here that the logistics center of Turkmenistan will be created, which will become the basic structure for the operation of a regular car-ferry service on the Olya-Turkmenbashi line.
At the initial stage of the SEPZ project, calculated until 2023, it is planned to equip the existing berths of the seaport of Olya and put into operation four terminals with a total capacity of more than three million tons. Loading and unloading equipment, automobile and railway checkpoints will be installed here. Then dredging will take place and the expansion of the port complex will begin.
After the full commissioning of the port (tentatively by 2031), its turnover will amount to eight million tons of cargo per year, while now all ports in the region accept three million tons of cargo. The new port area will be merged with the already existing SEZ of industrial production type "Lotos" in the Narimanov district of the Astrakhan region. As a result, the Caspian cluster will be formed in the region.
Members of the Turkmen delegation held talks with the administration of the port of Olya, discussing the issues of attracting cargo flows to the Olya-Turkmenbashi ferry line. After getting acquainted with the progress in the creation of the SEPZ, the Turkmen delegation visited the Astrakhan design bureau "Flotproekt", where they considered promising projects for the construction of dredgers for the Turkmen navy.
Another point of the study tour was the production company "VTS-port", the largest forwarding company providing services in the field of transport and logistics services, cargo transportation in the Astrakhan region.
