Hotels of the Avaza seaside resort on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea will implement "green" standards. This is provided by the project "Development of sustainable cities: Development of green cities in Ashgabat and Avaza", which is carried out jointly with the UN Development Program.

Within the framework of the project, it is also planned to carry out the work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and negative impact on the environment by taking appropriate environmental measures in the management of tourist facilities and infrastructure in Avaza. Berdy Berdyev, who is responsible for coordinating international environmental cooperation and projects in the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, told about this at the conference in honor of the Caspian Sea Day.

According to him, great hopes are also set on the implementation of a new regional project with the participation of the Ministry and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN(FAO) - "Capacity Building for Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Management in Central Asia (FISHCap)".

FISHCap aims to increase sustainable fish production by improving the quality of fisheries, adapting to climate change and supporting aquaculture management, including in the regions located on the Caspian Sea coast.

It is expected that opportunities for the implementation of other projects related to the sustainable ecological and agricultural development of the Caspian region will be explored with FAO and other reputable international organizations.

Currently, Turkmenistan is also implementing a number of other national and regional projects aimed at solving such serious problems as combating climate change and adapting agricultural and other human activities to climate change, countering land degradation processes and forestry management, preserving biological diversity and creating favorable conditions for the protection and conservation of the unique existing ecological systems in the country.
