The new road bridge across the Garabogaz Bay will effectively serve cargo carriers not only from Turkmenistan, but also from Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran and India.
This was stated by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the framework of the solemn ceremony of laying the foundation of the bridge on Monday, the official Turkmen press writes today.
This transport infrastructure facility will allow foreign cargo carriers to reach the countries of Northern and Eastern Europe in the shortest way, using both road and sea and rail transport, the head of state stressed.
The bridge being built across the Garabogaz Bay will provide good conditions for the active integration of Turkmenistan into the global economic space and further strengthen its cooperation with foreign countries.
Also, the emergence of a new transport infrastructure facility in the area will lead to a significant increase in trade, cargo and passenger traffic between the northern and eastern regions of Turkmenistan, said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The highways being built and reconstructed today in Turkmenistan should create optimal conditions for the continuous transportation of passengers and goods between Europe and Central Asia through the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi, the head of state said.
