At the Turkmen-Uzbek summit talks held in Tashkent on Thursday, much attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the field of transport. It was noted that last year the volume of cargo transportation between the two countries increased by 17%, and this trend continues, and the mutual provision of benefits and discounts for transportation will make it possible to use the transit potential of the region more effectively.

The Heads of State noted the successful work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Water Management Issues and the current signing of the historic Agreement on the Amu Darya, which will serve to ensure the rational use of water resources in the region.

Uzbekistan expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the energy sector, including the supply of electricity, gas and petroleum products from Turkmenistan.

На туркмено-узбекских переговорах в верхах, прошедших в четверг в Ташкенте, большое внимание было уделено развитию сотрудничества в сфере транспорта

Ashgabat is also aimed at increasing mutual trade turnover and industrial cooperation with the neighboring state.

The Turkmen leader called the agro-industrial complex, energy, chemical and petrochemical industries, mechanical engineering, textiles and pharmaceuticals promising areas of cooperation.

"There are serious opportunities for building partnerships between business communities. In recent years, cross-border relations have intensified. We look forward to continuing and expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan," Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
