Union of Writers of the CIS countries: to be or not to be?

The issue of the creation of the Union of Writers of the CIS raised by the Kazakh poet Esengali Raushanov will be considered at the 14th Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia, which started in Ashgabat.
The formation of the Writers' Union of the CIS countries will be a powerful impetus for the development of literature in the Commonwealth countries and the identification of new talents in this field. It will also serve as a platform for expanding the readership of national authors and popularizing literature.
It is symbolic that the question was raised in the year declared “Year of the Book” in the CIS. Interest in reading fiction in the world is being revived. And readers along with the classics are interested in modern writers, who reflect the world "here and now" in their works, with all its realities and problems. This niche is gradually occupied by young authors with a fresh look and not an ossified syllable.
- We can not do without youth, and young people can not do without us. Otherwise, they will have to reinvent everything from scratch. There is a need to transfer knowledge, skills. Today, among writers, poets need a leader who could ignite and lead and venerable creators, and younger ones. This can be done just on the basis of the Writers' Union, - said Raushanov.
On May 16th, a round table devoted to literature will be held within the framework of the Forum. Delegates will discuss the prospects for the creation of the Union, and the expansion of translation activities in the CIS space.
