The Russian joint-stock company RZD Logistics launched a full-fledged container train to India for the first time through the eastern branch of the North-South corridor, the company's press service reports.

The train will reach India using the railway infrastructure of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, which became possible thanks to the agreements previously reached during summits of the heads of the Caspian states.

The total length of the route from Russia to India is 8,000 km. both by rail and by sea. Approximately cargo from Russia will reach the port of Nava-Sheva in the city of Mumbai in 35-37 days.
