Business circles of Vietnam are interested in developing cooperation with Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan and Vietnam have an impressive potential for the development of trade and economic cooperation said Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam Bui Trung Ngia at the Turkmen-Vietnamese business forum held in Hanoi, VeEconomy writes.
The trade turnover between the countries in 2021 amounted to about $0.56 million, but this figure is far from the existing opportunities for cooperation, the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry believes. In his opinion, Vietnamese business today should pay attention to the possibility of importing Turkmen natural gas, cotton products and famous handmade carpets.
Vietnam, in turn, could act as a reliable supplier of industrial and consumer goods for Turkmenistan, including tea, coffee, and seafood that have proven themselves on the world market.
To develop interaction between the countries, the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam took initiatives to develop new cooperation agreements in order to create a favorable legal framework, start regular exchange of information about the markets, enterprises and goods of the parties through the relevant departments.
The idea of creating joint Turkmen-Vietnamese enterprises that could be engaged in the production of canned food, juices, electronics and textiles for further sale in the markets of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, the free trade zone of which includes Vietnam, was voiced.
The forum also discussed the possibility of organizing a trip to Turkmenistan for a Vietnamese business delegation, which could study the country's market, take part in specialized exhibitions and get to know Turkmen products better.
The Turkmen-Vietnamese business forum was attended by representatives of about 40 Vietnamese companies that specialize in the oil and gas sector, energy, trade, construction, architecture and transport.
A number of bilateral agreements were signed at the forum, meetings of business circles were held and an exhibition of products manufactured in Turkmenistan was organized.
