US Government TechWomen Program invites women from Central Asia to Silicon Valley

100 women from Central and South Asia, Africa and Middle East will get opportunity to improve their professional and leader skills in USA through the TechWomen of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The goal of TechWomen exchange program is to empower, connect and support the next generation of female leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by providing them chance for professional realization and becoming role models for women and girls in their countries. The list of the countries, eligible for this year program, includes Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, SierraLeone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe. The five-week program in September-October 2018 envisages collaboration with mentors from leading companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, participate in professional development workshops and networking events. The program provides for traveling to Washington, DC. for meetings and special events. The program have far-reaching targets as well. It leads to expanding cooperation between women in the STEM areas. Those, who passed the programs, serve as mentors for girls in their countries and communities inspiring them to continue their careers. TechWomen was launched in 2011 and attracted over 500 countries from dozens countries. The requirements of the selection process and online application is available on the official web-site of the program: www.techwomen.org The deadline for application is 17 January 2018.
