Pakistani Ambassador to Moscow Shafkat Ali Khan said that the country is committed to the Pakistan Stream project, and legal issues are now being discussed between the leaders of the states. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“There are no exact dates yet. There are several legal issues. There are no big problems. As far as political will is concerned, both countries are committed to this project,” the news agency quoted the ambassador as saying.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia expects that under the new Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, the project of building the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline will be continued.

The gas pipeline planned for construction in Pakistan, from the port of Karachi in the south to Lahore in the north, will have a capacity of 12.4 billion cubic meters per year.

It is planned to supply regasified LNG via Pakistan Stream, as well as gas from the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline under construction. According to experts, Pakistani Stream and TAPI do not compete, but, on the contrary, complement each other. The fact that natural gas from the TAPI gas pipeline can be sent through the Pakistan Stream to the industrial needs of the country increases the relevance of TAPI.
