Turkmen engineers and railway specialists have arrived in the Afghan city of Akina (Balkh province), where the construction of the Akina-Andkhoy railway line is being resumed. Also, all necessary machinery and equipment were delivered to the work site from Turkmenistan. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Tuesday.

The construction of the branch line is carried out under an agreement signed earlier between the agency "Turkmen Railways" and the Organization of Railways of Afghanistan.

The construction of this railway line with a length of 30 km began on July 25, 2019. But for various reasons, including restrictions due to the pandemic, 29 kilometers of 200 meters of branch line were built. The remaining 800 meters of the railway track are planned to be laid in one month, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
