Exhibition of tapestries by Kakamurad Baylyev opens in Ashgabat
The anniversary exhibition of the famous artist, master of the Turkmen tapestry school Kakamurad Baylyev opened at the Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan.
The show presented the “golden” collection of works by the author, considered one of the legislators of tapestry art as a genre in the modern artistic life of Turkmenistan.
The opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the artist, was the day of memories of him. It gathered his close friends, colleagues from the Mary region, with whom he worked in his early years.
“He was such a cheerful person with whom you would never get bored,” sculptor Amangeldi Meredov shared his memories. - He was always happy to share what he knows.
Creativity of Kakamurad Baylyev can be classified as rare events. The original and at the same time characteristic for Turkmen carpet weaving was a new type of tapestry that originated with him.
The art of tapestry is very complex and time consuming. First, the master prepares a small sketch, a sketch of the future canvas, makes a colored stencil, on the basis of which the work is created: the embodiment of the creative idea of a combination of woolen threads. Having thoroughly studied the experience of artists of Western European currents, the Russian realistic school, the Baltic tapestry, and, of course, the traditions of folk art, he worked so easily and freely, in different compositional and color techniques, like no other master of Turkmen tapestry…
The works of Kakamurad Baylyev reflect an understanding of the world, nature, life and temperament of the Turkmen people. The knowledge that he received at the Moscow Technical Institute in the field of arts and crafts and the sharpness of the vision contributed to the development of his special creative imagination.
