Young artists from Turkmenistan participate in the International Children’s Festival in Istanbul


Ensemble “Gunesh” (“Sunlight”) from the Balkan province of Turkmenistan takes part in the 23rd International Children’s Festival of the Turkish Peoples, which takes place these days in Istanbul.
The festival opened with a solemn parade of participants. More than 500 children from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tatarstan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Chuvashia, Dagestan, Gagauzia and other regions marched with flags of their countries through Kadıköy district of Istanbul.
On April 30, the festive concert where each group of participants performed a national dance of their country was held in Istanbul. The “sunny” dance group from the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea presented the Kushtdepdi folk dance included into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
On May 2, as part of festival events, the 14th vocal contest among children of the Turkish countries will be held. Turkmen singers will perform the song “Avaza - the land of friendship”.
