Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the work of the 2nd preparatory meeting of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum


On May 23-24, 2022, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the 2nd preparatory meeting of the Economic and Environmental Forum of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). In his speech, the representative of the Turkmenbashi seaport noted the importance of the development of transport and trade facilitation, as well as energy security as priorities for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in the field of economy and environmental protection.

It was emphasized that the Turkmenbashi International Port plays an important role as a convenient transport hub on the Caspian Sea, located at the crossroads of many trade routes, and that the port is working to promote green and digital trade. The representative of the port of Turkmenbashi emphasized the need to focus on the harmonization of green ports, transport and logistics flows, at the same time, the port of Turkmenbashi currently acts as a convenient transport hub.The participants were informed about the main principles of the port of Turkmenbashi, the ongoing work to comply with the requirements of the current environmental legislation, the provision of digital technologies based on international standards through the transition to a single digital platform.

The Turkmen side stressed the importance of Turkmenistan's protection of energy and transport systems, expanding renewable and sustainable energy sources and improving energy efficiency, cooperation in the field of energy security, energy security. It was noted that Turkmenistan is actively cooperating with the OSCE in the development of green ports and transport links, as well as in expanding the economic opportunities for women in the energy sector.
The participants of the meeting were also informed about the priorities of Turkmenistan in the field of energy security, sustainable transport system and water resources management, which in turn are important components of the UN SDGs. It was noted that Turkmenistan supports measures aimed at developing sustainable relations in the OSCE region and is constantly building up the country's transport potential by launching major international and regional transport and communication projects.
