Azerbaijani city of Shamakhi elected as the tourist capital of the Turkic world for 2023
The corresponding decision was made at the 7th meeting of tourism ministers and the 17th meeting of the working group on tourism of the Organization of Turkic States, held on Tuesday in Shamakhi.
The participants of the meeting noted the importance of intensifying work on the creation of joint tourism products as a multinational "Modern Silk Road". At the meeting, the rules of the "Initiatives of the Tourism Capital of the Turkic World" were approved and the "Roadmap of the Organization of Turkic States for Tourism" was adopted, the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan reports.
Speaking at the event, Secretary General of the organization Baghdad Amreev stressed that the development of relations between member countries at all levels has a positive effect on tourism. He congratulated Shamakhi on being elected as the tourist capital of the Turkic world for 2023, noting that the continuation of this initiative will help increase mutual awareness between the member countries.
Turkmenistan was represented at the meeting by Ambassador Mekan Ishangulyev. In addition, Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Nursakhet Shirimov joined the event online.
