Weightlifter from Turkmenistan - the bronze medalist of the Asian Championship in China
Turkmen weightlifter Hojamuhammet Toychiyev won two bronze medals in the +109kg weight category on the final day of the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships held in the Chinese city of Ningbo.
The athlete became the third in the Clean and Jerk (234 kg), where he realized all three attempts, and in both the Snatch and Clean and Jerk, he lifted a total of 421 kg. In the Snatch, Toychiyev was not able to win another “bronze”, since he could not lift declared weight of 191 kg. As a result, he was at the fourth place in this event.
The winner of the championship is the Iranian weightlifter Ali Davoudi, who in the in both the Snatch and Clean and Jerk raised 432 kg, “silver” medal won by the Chinese Taipei athlete Chen Shih-Chieh.
A day earlier, Aysoltan Toychiyeva, the younger sister of Hojamuhammet, (81 kg category) won a small silver medal in the Clean and Jerk event, lifting 114 kg.
