Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences on the occasion of the explosion in Havana


President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences to Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez on the occasion of the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana, which had tragic consequences.
In a message on this occasion, the Turkmen leader, on behalf of the people, the government of the country and on his own behalf, conveyed words of sympathy and support at this difficult moment to the families and relatives of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the victims.
At least 26 people have died and more than 60 have been hospitalized after a massive explosion at one of Cuba's most famous five-star hotels. According to representatives of the Red Cross, the death toll increased to 32 people after that - several more people died in hospitals. In addition, the bodies of 19 alleged victims of the tragedy have not yet been found - people are listed as missing.

The historic five-story building was ready to open four days after a pause due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now it lies in ruins, most of the outer wall is destroyed. Search and rescue operations are underway.
A gas tank parked outside the Saratoga Hotel is believed to have caught fire, resulting in an explosion that destroyed several floors of the building. Earlier it was reported that the cause of the explosion could be a gas leak.
