The role of consultations for the development of exports was discussed at the EBRD meeting in Ashgabat

The prospects for export development for Turkmen companies and the role of consultations of local and foreign experts on this issue were discussed on Thursday at a meeting organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with the financial support of the European Union.
Every year, the EBRD implements about 40 projects in the field of business consulting in Turkmenistan, Fatih Turkmenoglu, head of the EBRD office in Turkmenistan, said at the meeting. The Bank aims to attract an increasing number of international experts to the country, whose advice will help increase the export opportunities of Turkmen business, reduce imports and create new jobs.
The European Union supports the private sector of Turkmenistan together with the EBRD and is ready to promote the export of Turkmen goods to the European market, EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso said in his address to the meeting participants.
At the same time, the ambassador stressed that as soon as a business enters the European market, any other market will open its doors for it. Since compliance with EU standards indicates compliance with the highest quality standards worldwide.
At the meeting, a study of the state and prospects of exports by private businesses in Turkmenistan, conducted by MCT Agency on behalf of the EBRD, was presented. The main purpose of this work was to determine products in Turkmenistan that could be sold in the countries of Central Asia and Mongolia, as well as to collect and provide information for Turkmen business to make better informed decisions in the field of product exports.

Thanks to a survey of Turkmen entrepreneurs, it became clear that most of them are experiencing difficulties in finding foreign partners, promoting products on foreign markets, and customs clearance of products. Many of these difficulties can be overcome with the help of local and foreign consultants, MCT Agency concludes.
The study also showed that the main exports of Turkmen entrepreneurs are food products and textiles. The largest number of deliveries is made to Russia, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.
Based on the results of the study, a list of products recommended for export from Turkmenistan to the countries of Central Asia and Mongolia was compiled. It included tomatoes and other greenhouse vegetables, confectionery, textiles and ready-made clothing, building materials, polypropylene and polyethylene products, household chemicals and hygiene products, as well as automotive products.
EBRD representative Natalya Akmuradova spoke at the meeting about the bank's consultations for small and medium-sized businesses in Turkmenistan, which open up vast opportunities for learning from international best practices in this area.
To date, the EBRD in Turkmenistan has a base of about 30 local consultants who can help Turkmen businesses in solving various business problems. They are selected in accordance with the rules of the organization, which guarantees the high quality of the services provided.

The participants of the event were also presented with a presentation of the EBRD initiative to promote Turkmen export, which includes a series of events for the country's entrepreneurs. The initiative provides businesses with the opportunity to participate in trainings to improve export potential and consulting services from experienced international experts.
