The EU Special Representative met with the heads of both chambers of the Turkmen Parliament
Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met on Wednesday with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Khakala, who arrived in Ashgabat.
The main topic of the conversation was the development of parliamentary contacts as a mechanism for diplomacy and cooperation, strengthening of legal support for joint agreements and closer consultative interaction in the legislative sphere.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, emphasizing the policy of "open doors" pursued by Turkmenistan, noted that partnership with the EU in this regard is of paramount importance, and spoke in favor of enriching and intensifying this dialogue.
Teri Khakala also met with Gulshat Mammedova, Chairwoman of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh, discussing topical issues of interaction between the EU and Turkmenistan through the parliamentary line. The meeting was attended by EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso.
