The Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs


On Saturday, the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO held its regular meeting in Ashgabat, with the participation of government members, heads of several ministries and departments of the country.
During the meeting, there were discussed the issues on promoting the processes of nominating Turkmen traditions and arts to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, expanding the legal framework for cooperation with UNESCO and interacting with this UN agency in the field of digital technologies.
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov stressed the need to further develop contacts with this Organization and increase the efficiency of the National Commission for UNESCO, the press service of the Foreign Ministry, where the meeting was held, reports.
The Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustemova, the ministers of education, agriculture and environmental protection and others spoke at the meeting.
It was about the nomination of the Turkmen traditions of Akhal-Teke horse breeding and Alabay breeding to the UNESCO List, about joining the UNESCO conventions, including the convention “On measures aimed at prohibiting and preventing illegal import, export and transfer of ownership of cultural property”.
The inclusion of Ashgabat in the UNESCO Global Network of Creative Cities and organizational issues of creating UNESCO Chairs in a number of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan were also discussed.
