Turkmen artists to perform in Kyrgyzstan at the TÜRKSOY Festival

The Turkmen ensemble “Margiana” will take part in the international dance competition TÜRKSOY, which to be held on April 16-23 in Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the opening of the Year “Osh, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2019”. Together with Turkmen folk singers, on April 20, the ensemble will also perform at the Year’s opening ceremony concert with the folk dance “Kushtdepdi”, which was included by UNESCO on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Musical performances of bands and soloists from Turkic-speaking countries will be also held in other cities of Kyrgyzstan – Jalalabad and Bishkek. The delegation of Turkmenistan includes the media representatives of the country, who will take part in the opening ceremony of the Year “Osh, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2019” and in the TÜRKSOY Press Awards ceremony. The decision to declare the city of Osh, after the Kazakh Turkestan, the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2019 was taken at the 36th meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of TÜRKSOY in December 2018. The Turkmen city of Mary had the status of the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2015.
