Taliban resume work on regional energy projects
Work on the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) project will resume on the Afghan section of the gas pipeline after the acquisition of land for its construction, a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Economy said, TOLOnews reports.
– Our technical team works with the technical team of Turkmenistan. We aim to complete the land acquisition process and resume work on the project, Ahmad Wali Hakmal explained. According to him, the new Taliban government also settled the issues of financing the project.
Earlier, in March, the Afghan Foreign Ministry made a statement on TAPI, announcing that negotiations on the technical issues of the gas pipeline project had been held, and the project would resume in the spring, and work would soon resume on other joint projects.
At the Third Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan's Neighbors, held on March 31 in Tunxi, Anhui, China, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to engaging Afghanistan in regional ties, energy and transport networks, economic and trade systems, and to assisting Afghanistan in realizing its geographical advantages. and economic development potential.
The Tunxi Initiative to Support the Economic Recovery of Afghanistan noted that Turkmenistan will focus on promoting the construction of TAPI, which is an important part of trade and economic cooperation, and will also provide Afghanistan with guarantees for the restoration and development of its economic and social infrastructure.
Turkmenistan is also ready to work with Afghanistan and Pakistan to jointly promote the construction of the TAP transmission line, continue to provide reliable power supply to the northern provinces of Afghanistan, promote the implementation of the Lazurite Corridor transport project, and further provide Afghan students with places to study in Turkmen universities and train specialists in the field of transport, energy and health care for Afghanistan.
