Natalya German noted the role of Turkmenistan in ensuring regional energy security

Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia Natalya Gherman noted the need to support the active role of Turkmenistan in ensuring regional energy security, speaking at OGT-2022 in Ashgabat.
She stressed that at the moment humanity is facing instability and is experiencing a crisis of confidence, however, despite the alarming global trends, Central Asia stands out as a region where the principles of peace and security are supported and promoted.
Energy is a matter of national and regional security, peace and global stability, Herman stressed. Energy security is at the heart of geopolitics, and can be both a source of cooperation and conflict. In Central Asia, it has been a source of cooperation for many decades, and it is worth strengthening this position.
The leaders of the Central Asian states once again demonstrated their commitment to constructive cooperation in the field of energy, transport, communications and environmental protection during the third Consultative meeting of the heads of the countries of the region in Avaza, in August 2021.
Natalya German also noted the efforts of Turkmenistan to promote a number of important regional initiatives. These include the TAPI and TAP projects, which are designed to strengthen interconnectedness, promote economic development, and ultimately contribute to sustainable peace in a vast geo-economic and geopolitical space.
