Lavrov to attend conference on Afghanistan in China
The third ministerial meeting of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan will be held on March 31 in China. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov will also take part in this meeting, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the official representative of Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
"During the event, it is planned to hold a dialogue between the heads of foreign affairs agencies of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan and the delegation of the Taliban movement," she added.
The conference will be organized in the city of Tunxi, Anhui Province, China, and will be attended by delegations from Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
On Thursday, after the visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister to Kabul, special envoy of the Russian President for Afghanistan and director of the second Asian department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov also arrived there, reports the Afghan edition of Pajhwok. This information was also confirmed by Maria Zakharova at a briefing on March 24. In Kabul, he holds talks on the whole range of issues of bilateral relations, the diplomat said.
Earlier, Kabulov, in an interview with Interfax, speaking about the recognition of the Taliban, said: “When there is a set of certain convincing steps - schools for believers, albeit separate, but the full cycle of secondary school for girls should be open, admission to education is mandatory at universities. Albeit separate, this exists in many Gulf countries, as far as I know, in general in Arab monarchies, not democracies. Therefore, when this happens, we will act with this in mind, and then recognition will inevitably come. It's up to the Taliban, they have to advance."
