Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Pakistan discussed regional projects


Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi met today in Islamabad with the Minis-ter of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on the sidelines of the 48th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad.
The foreign ministers of the two countries expressed satisfaction with the state of bilateral relations, as well as the growing cooperation in various fields, including coordination in regional and international forums.
Qureshi emphasized Pakistan's "Vision for Central Asia" policy and its commit-ment to expanding engagement with the countries of the CA region to build a re-sults-oriented, sustainable, and long-term partnership. He noted the need for clos-er cooperation between Pakistan and Turkmenistan in the field of trade and in-vestment, improved connectivity and people-to-people exchange.
The Ministers emphasized that peace and stability in Afghanistan are essential to achieve the goals of greater economic integration of the region and noted the im-portance of the constructive engagement of the international community, includ-ing the countries of the region, in meeting the urgent humanitarian and economic needs of the Afghan people.
The foreign ministers exchanged views on projects in the field of energy and communications between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, which can turn the region into a center of regional trade.
